COCHIN - MUNNAR – THEKKADY –
KUMARAKOM - ALLEPPY –KOVALAM –
KANYAKUMARI - COCHIN
Day 1: Arrive Cochin
Arrive in Cochin to a traditional
Indian welcome. Transfer to the
hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2: Cochin
In the morning, start a day-long
tour of Cochin. Cochin has one of
the oldest churches in India, 500
years old Portuguese houses, a
Jewish town with meticulously
preserved synagogues. Also visit
the Mantanacherry Palace built by
the Portuguese. Overnight at the
hotel.
Day 3: Cochin - Munnar (134 kms -
3 hrs)
In the morning, proceed for Munnar,
located in the Idukki district of
Kerala. Munnar literally means the
confluence of three mountain
streams (Madurapuzha, Nallathanni
and Kundala). Under British rule,
Munnar was the summer resort of
Government officials. Muannar's
charm, serenity and mild weather
make it a 365-day tourist
attraction. There are about 30 tea
plantations in and around Munnar.
The tea estates, hills, lakes and
forests lend immensely to Munnar's
beauty. Later in the afternoon
visit the Kannan Devan Hills from
here you have a panoramic view of
Munnar Tea Estates and the Lake of
Munnar. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Munnar - Thekkady (110 kms
- 3 hrs)
In the morning, proceed to
Thekkady or the Periyar National
Park set in the Western Ghats in
Kerala. Arrive and check in to the
hotel. In the afternoon go out and
discover the park and its
wildlife. Animals found here
include elephants, sambars, gaurs
and wild boars and birds like ibis
and grey heron. The spotting here
is dione from a boat, a unique
experience in itself. Overnight at
the hotel.
Day 5: Thekkady - Kumarakom (130
kms - 3 hrs)
This morning drive to Kumarakom;
transfer to the hotel/resort on
arrival. The rest of the day is
free to visit the Kumarakom Bird
Sanctuary or for a canoe ride
through the narrow canals
(backwaters), or a simple
relaxation at the hotel with an
ayurvedic massage. Overnight in
Kumarakom.
Day 6: Kumarakom - Alleppey (By
overnight Houseboat - Kettuvellam)
In the morning, a houseboat will
report at the hotel/resort in
Kumarakom which will take you to
Alleppey for an overnight cruise.
The journey will take you through
the enchanting backwaters of
Alleppey through narrow canals
gliding past vast expanses of
paddy and tiny hamlets, typical
villages and regattas (snake
boats). In the evening enjoy the
sunset from the sun-deck of your
houseboat. All meals will be
served aboard. Overnight on board.
Day 7: Alleppey - Kovalam (165 kms
- 4 hrs)
Arrive Alleppey on a jetty; you
will be assisted on arrival;
continue your journey to Kovalam.
Here the sand beaches, the cool
sea breeze bringing with them the
aroma of coconut lagoons, the
lusty waves and serenity transport
you to a magical world. Kovalam
also has a rich history which
speaks of a valiant past that you
will love revisiting. Overnight at
the hotel.
Day 8: Kovalam - Trivandrum - Cape
Camorin - Kovalam
In the morning, you will tour a
refreshing seaside city built on
seven hills. The famous Sri
Padmanabhaswamy Swami Temple
dedicated to Vishnu is a landmark
here. You will then drive on to
Cape Camorin also known as Kanya
Kumari 84 kms away. This place is
at the southern-most tip of India
which witnesses the confluence of
the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and
the Bay of Bengal). Among the
highlights here are the Kumari
Amman Devi Temple and the
Vivekananda Rock and Ashram.
Savour a sunset at this unique
spot and then drive back to
Kovalam for overnight stay.
Day 9: Kovalam
Spend the day at leisure relaxing
on the beachfront. Overnight at
the hotel.
Day 10: Kovalam - Trivandrum -
Back Home
Check out and transfer to
Trivandrum airport to board the
flight back home.
