RAGHUNATHJI TEMPLE
The Temple houses a statuette of Lord Rama,
brought down from Ayodhya. It is considered one
of the holiest places in Kullu.
OLD MANALI
To reach Old Manali, one has to cross the
Manalsu Nala. The village has a temple, Manu
maharishi Temple, maize fields and apple
orchards which offer a break from the rush of
main manali. Here you can also find road side
cafes that serve hot porridge, pancakes, tea and
coffee.
HADIMBA TEMPLE
About 13 km north of the main bazaar, is the
pagoda shaped 600-year old Hadimba Devi Temple.
It is hidden in the midst of thr cedar forest in
old Manali. The temple is dedicated to Hadimba,
the wife of Bhima, one of the five Pandava
brothers of the Mahabharta. She was the patron
goddess of the Kullu royal family and is
considered to be the mother goddess of the
valley. The four storey Temple is known for
intricate carvings on the wood running through
the pillars and doorposts. The temple is also
known as Dhungri Temple.
TIBETAN MONASTERY
The large Tibetan settlement in the valley
throng the monastery with its colourful gompas
and prayer wheels. A strong influence of
Buddhism is evident in this town with several
monastries in various parts of Manali. The hand
woven carpets made in the workshop of the
monastery are a must buy.
ARJUNA CAVES
Five kilometres away from Manali near the hamlet
called Prini, are the Arjuna Caves. Arjuna – one
of the Pandava brothers, is believed to have
mediated here in order to impress Indra, the
king of Gods, as he wanted a weapon as a boon.
MOUNTAINEERING INSTITUTE
The Directorate bof Mountaineering & Allied
Sports was established in 1961 and is the second
oldest adventure sports institute in India.
Located 13 km from manali, it provides training
in mountaineering, skiing, water sports,
outbound adventure and mountain rescue.
ROHTANG PASS
Rohtang Pass, the perilous pass crossing into
Lahaul is barely 54 km from Manali. It lies at a
height of 3,980 km above sea level. The initial
drive is like travelling through a picture
postcard. River Beas keeps company for about 15
km. It is freezing cold. It is the highest point
on the Manali-Leh highway and provides panoramic
view of the glaciers, deep ravines and
mountains.
SOLANG VALLEY
Solang Valley just 14 km from Manali allows you
to experience nature in all her glory at 8,500ft
above sea level. The splendid view of the
perennial of the Solang Nala of Manali
transports tourists to the glorious heights of
the Himalayas. Solang Valley is one of the best
